Cathy Bennett is currently an interim president of ASLTA of Colorado and has been an ASL teacher for about 10 years. She has a B.A. in Communication Arts from Gallaudet University and a M.A. in ASL/Deaf Education from the National Technical Institute of the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology (NTID/RIT). She has given workshops and presentations to schools, community groups, and at conferences in the U.S. as well as in Canada. In Colorado, where a law recognizing American Sign Language for high school and college language credit, Cathy also serves on two ASL Task Force committees with Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB) and the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). Cathy is involved in developing an ASL storytelling video series called the “Family Literacy Pack,” and she is also a Site Coordinator for the Shared Reading Project for the state of Colorado. She also currently works as an ASL Specialist at the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind.
